Smaller scale biomass-to-liquids provides a route to cost-effective premium renewable fuels and associated carbon credits.
Velocys is focused on delivering, with partners, an integrated offer to supply premium renewable diesel and jet fuel, and premium wax products from landfill gas and woody biomass in specific high growth markets. Markets in North America will be the near-term focus. Longer term, the company intends to extend its focus to renewable fuels derived from municipal solid waste.
The market for these fuels is large and growing. For example, to meet COP21 commitments we estimate that there will be a requirement of over 30,000 barrels per day of new capacity for renewable jet fuel in the USA by 2020.
Velocys enables resource holders, partners, airlines, governments and investors, to deliver their environmental obligations and programmes for renewable fuels at scale, in a world where there is increasing pressure from legislation and public opinion to curb greenhouse gas emissions and reduce pollution. Fuels produced by the biomass-to-liquids process have highly desirable properties and can deliver material lifecycle greenhouse gas reductions, typically exceeding 60% compared to traditional fuels.
Velocys is continuing to license its technology to renewable fuels projects being developed by third parties. Please contact us if you are developing such a project.
