Hydroprocessing
Microchannel technology is also applicable to the hydroprocessing of FT or conventional liquid hydrocarbons.
FT fuel may require a cracking and upgrading step to further improve its performance and value. It may be processed as a blend with crude oil in conventional refineries as a way of upgrading the overall product slate, or processed alone. The development of a complementary microchannel upgrading technology means that the Velocys synthetic fuels facility can be a turn-key, completely integrated unit converting feedstock to finished, marketable products.
Microchannel reactors are also a low capital cost solution to economically add incremental capacity to existing refinery hydroprocessing plants.
